Despite the threat to the game due to the coronavirus pandemic, officials for the Scranton Lions Dream Game had coaches from the Lackawanna Football Conference still select players to honor them.
The Dream Game has been played for the last 85 years and bills itself as the longest running high school all-star game in the country.
The City coach is Scranton Prep’s Terry Gallagher. The County coach is David Piwowarczyk.
The game is tentatively scheduled for July 23 at John Henzes/Veterans Memorial Stadium. Organizers have said that they will remain patient and expected to finalize a decision after May 8. They will act in compliance with guidelines set by the state Department of Health and Gov. Tom Wolf.
“We are focused on picking the teams and honoring the seniors for the work they did in the fall. We are moving forward monitoring the situation very closely with Gov. Wolf and the guidelines. We have been in communication with the Valley View school district and we will make the decision based on the expectations moving into the summer.”
