Good morning.
Boy, it sure felt like spring yesterday. The warm sun rays hitting your face. I even got out for what I call a “brisk waddle.” Fitness is not my forte.
We also had a Virtual Track and Field Meet, Come on, you all saw it ON THE BLOG. It got shared quite a few times and looks like people read it. Got a great share from former State Champion Erin Davis, who is all the way out in Los Angeles and staying healthy we hope. She earned a win in the high jump in the Virtual meet.
See, this can be fun. Fans, stick with us here, we are doing the best we can to keep you all stimulated.
And as predicted: coach Frank Passetti did roll his eyes! He helped build Abington Heights into the powerhouse it is today. He and several of ON THE BLOG’S dearest friends often fought over the “all-star” concept meet. He had strong arguments and there were some really deep teams back in his day. We wish him and his family much health in these days, as well.
OK, let’s get back to it. The LTC Boys meet is upon us. … Let’s review.
HERE’S THE FORMAT:
There used to be an old Lackawanna Track Conference Championship Meet. At it, each team could enter only ONE athlete per event. It was the best of the best in each event. An all-star showdown.
So, what I did, was take the Top 8 performances from each event in the conference and scored it like the Robert Spagna Championship meet.
- First place was awarded 10 points, second, 8, third, 6, fourth, 5, fifth, 4, sixth, 3, seventh, 2, and eighth, 1.
Then, I added the scores and came away with a Class 3A Champion and a Class 2A Champion. Not terribly difficult and we had a little bit of fun.
BOYS RESULTS
TEAM STANDINGS
- CLASS 3A: North Pocono 102; Wallenpaupack 69.5; Abington Heights 59.5. Delaware Valley 55.5; Valley View 55; Honesdale 47; Scranton 43; Scranton Prep 41; West Scranton 6.
- CLASS 2A: Lakeland 75; Montrose 32.5; Dunmore 26; Elk Lake 20.5; Western Wayne 17; Riverside 15; Holy Cross 12; Susquehanna 8; Blue Ridge 7; Carbondale Area 7; Mid Valley 4; Lackawanna Trail 3.5.
NOTES:
- Wallenpaupack, Valley View and Scranton Prep competed in Class 3A and Class 2A in their histories.
- Lakeland scored in 17 of the 18 events.
- North Pocono thrower Matt Slagus is the only two-event champion (shot put, discus)
- There is one VERY old winner: See if you can find him.
- North Pocono has the most champions (5).
