The forecast calls for a perfect fall weekend, so get out and enjoy some family-friendly activities in NEPA. Here are my picks for this weekend:
Celebrate the fall harvest at Laurie’s Community Garden in Scranton on Sunday from noon to 2 p.m. The event, hosted by the Greenhouse Project, is at the corner of Vine Street and North Irving Avenue in the city’s hill section. Make a scarecrow, paint a pumpkin and try some apple cider.
Meet Abby Cadabby at the Viewmont Mall on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. As Sesame Street celebrates its 50th birthday, WVIA will host the event, which includes free books for the first 500 children.
Head to Claws ‘N’ Paws Wild Animal Park in Wayne County for Boo at the Zoo on Saturday and Sunday. Activities include face painting, an animal parade and goodie bags.
Take a drive and visit Knoebels for the park’s annual Hallo-Fun event. The event features “thrilling games, freaktastic attractions and, of course, a selection of Knoebels’ hallo-riffic rides.”
Pick apples and pumpkins at many locations across NEPA. Check out the list here. Last weekend, we visited Russell Farms in Susquehanna County and picked more apples than I know what to do with. The girls loved it.
