Here are my picks for this weekend:
Visit Character Day at Bee’s Backyard at the Marketplace at Steamtown. Mickey, Minnie, Elsa, Anna and Marshall will appear between 10 a.m. and noon on Sunday. Regular admission rates apply.
Watch performances of “Lemonade,” “Willy Wonka Kids” and “Dear Edwina, Jr,” presented by Creative and Performing Arts Academy of NEPA, at the Ritz Theater in downtown Scranton. View showtimes here.
Ride a steam locomotive on Veterans Day. “We would like to help you celebrate the holiday with our own ‘veteran,’ steam locomotive, and her passenger train of coaches, as we run four trains through the historic railroad yard,” according to the Steamtown National Historic Site. Tickets are available for purchase beginning at 9:00 a.m. Monday. Cost is $5 for riders ages 6 and up. Children 5 and under ride at no cost.
Departures are from the turntable plaza at Steamtown at 10:00, 11:30, 1:15 and 2:15. Boarding begins about 10 minutes before departure.
