SHIPPENSBURG — The medals are rolling in for the Wyoming Valley Conference on the final day of the PIAA Track and Field Championships.

Holy Redeemer’s Karissa Spade, a semifinalist in the Class 2A 100 and 200 dashes, locked up a top-eight finish and medal in the latter sprint. She took fourth overall in Saturday morning’s semifinals and will run in the afternoon’s finals.

While her placement on the medal stand has yet to be determined in the 200 and the Royals’ 4×400 relay, others have already earned their hardware.

Tunkhannock’s Matt Prebola took bronze in the Class 3A boys javelin at 199-foot-1, and Hazleton Area’s Scott Campbell was a few spots behind in sixth at 191-foot-10. In the 3A boys 110 hurdles, Meyers’ Nazir Dunell finished his career with a seventh-place medal in 15.56. Abby Paczewski finished sixth in the 2A girls 1600 as she ran a 5:12.39.

The WVC’s medal count is up to eight. It was started by Northwest’s Matt Saxe and Hanover Area’s Asad Whitehead yesterday.
