SHIPPENSBURG — The medals are rolling in for the Wyoming Valley Conference on the final day of the PIAA Track and Field Championships.
Holy Redeemer’s Karissa Spade, a semifinalist in the Class 2A 100 and 200 dashes, locked up a top-eight finish and medal in the latter sprint. She took fourth overall in Saturday morning’s semifinals and will run in the afternoon’s finals.
While her placement on the medal stand has yet to be determined in the 200 and the Royals’ 4×400 relay, others have already earned their hardware.
Tunkhannock’s Matt Prebola took bronze in the Class 3A boys javelin at 199-foot-1, and Hazleton Area’s Scott Campbell was a few spots behind in sixth at 191-foot-10. In the 3A boys 110 hurdles, Meyers’ Nazir Dunell finished his career with a seventh-place medal in 15.56. Abby Paczewski finished sixth in the 2A girls 1600 as she ran a 5:12.39.
The WVC’s medal count is up to eight. It was started by Northwest’s Matt Saxe and Hanover Area’s Asad Whitehead yesterday.

3200: Cameron Marcinkowski (Holy Redeemer) ran a 12:02.73 to finish 14th of 23 in the Class 2A girls race.
Boys 110 hurdles semifinals: Nazir Dunell (Meyers) advanced to the 3A boys final in 14.98, second-best in his heat and fifth overall in the semis.
100 semifinals: Karissa Spade (Holy Redeemer) ran a 12.93, while Rafael McCoy (Coughlin) finished in 11.13. Both were fourth in their heats and 11th overall.
200 semifinals: Spade (Holy Redeemer) advanced to the 2A girls finals with a 25.70, the fourth-best time in the semis. … Alondra Church (Dallas) took 11th in her 3A girls semis with a 25.83. … Rafael McCoy (Coughlin) just missed the 3A boys finals, taking ninth in 22.23.
Boys 110 hurdles: Dunell (Meyers) placed seventh in the state in 15.56.
1600: Abby Paczewski (Lake-Lehman) ran a 5:12.39 to place sixth in the state.

Class 3A girls high jump: Le’June Berry (Coughlin) cleared five feet and tied for 24.
Class 2A boys triple jump: Asad Whitehead (Hanover Area) jumped 41-foot-3.75 to take 15th of 24.
Class 3A boys javelin: Matt Prebola (Tunkhannock) finished third in the state with a 199-foot-1 throw. Scott Campbell (Hazleton Area) took sixth, at 191-foot-10.
