It was a chance for teams to reach the Mohegan Sun Arena as the District 2 basketball tournaments played through the first day of the semifinal round.

There were the usual suspects in Class 3A.

Wyoming Seminary, the defending champion, and Holy Redeemer, the 2017 champion, advanced to Thursday night’s Class 3A final with convincing wins over Lakeland and Mid Valley, respectfully.

Abington Heights reached the Class 5A final with a win over Dallas, and Crestwood defeated Wallenpaupack to get to the championship game. In a tournament where games have been lopsided, these two were decided by an average of 9.5 points.

Satuday, teams in Class 6A, Class 4A and Class 2A will try to punch their tickets to the big championship weekend.
