The Dietrich Theater, 60 E. Tioga St., Tunkhannock scored a big hit Wednesday when it found out “The Irishman” would play on the local big screen next month.
“We’re beyond excited,” said Ronnie Harvey, the Dietrich’s general theater manager.
According to a post Wednesday on the theater’s Facebook page, the Martin Scorsese movie starring Robert De Niro, Al Pacino and Joe Pesci will arrive at the Dietrich on Nov. 27, the same day it becomes available on the streaming service Netflix.
Harvey added the Dietrich might have it for three weeks during the holiday season.
The film is based on the Charles Brandt book, “I Heard You Paint Houses.”
On screen, De Niro plays Frank “The Irishman” Sheeran, Pacino is Jimmy Hoffa and Pesci tackles the role of mob figure Russell Bufalino from Kingston.
“The Irishman” opens in major cities Nov. 1.
