The annual “Christmas in a Small Town” Santa Train is canceled, the Steamtown National Historic Site and the Lackawanna Heritage Valley Authority announced today.

After meeting with community partners to discuss possible changes to the train’s traditional format, the communities as well as Steamtown NHS and LHVA decided to cancel the event for 2020.

The train, a popular annual event in the Lackawanna Valley for a quarter century, typically makes stops in Carbondale, Archbald, Jessup, Olyphant Dickson City and Scranton.

The Santa Train is set to return in early December 2021.
