Those looking to grab a bite to eat at the Pizza Hut on Gordon Nagle Trail, Pottsville, were greeted by a note on the restaurant’s front door Monday:

“Attention Customers: As of Tuesday 12-31-19 this location will no longer be open for business. All business will now run through the location on Rt 61. We are sorry for the inconvenience but hope you continue your business with the other location.”

The notice, signed by the restaurant’s owner, asks customers to bear with the company during the change.

The eatery closed its doors at 11 p.m. Monday after six years in business.

Located in the Sharp Mountain Plaza, Pizza Hut replaced a previous pizza store across the street from the current location. Jayne Herndon, a shift manager at the restaurant for five years, said the store’s 10 employees learned of the closure Sunday.

“It’s sad, but we knew it was coming,” she said, standing near the two food bars.

The shift manager said Pizza Hut officials “were dropping hints” about the closure.

Those employees will work at the Pizza Hut on Route 61.
