Gerrity’s Supermarkets and Gerrity’s Ace Hardware will close on New Year’s Day, but each of the more than 1,100 employees will be paid anyway, the company announced.
Gerrity’s Supermarkets will be open until 7 p.m. on New Year’s Eve while Gerrity’s Ace Hardware stores will close at 5 p.m. All stores will reopen at 7 a.m. on Jan. 2.
The family-owned company operates nine supermarkets in Lackawanna and Luzerne counties and two hardware stores in Lackawanna.
