Rather than walk across a stage, the North Pocono High School class of 2020 will drive across the finish line at Pocono Raceway.
The raceway is working with the school district to host a graduation ceremony June 12 that abides by social distancing requirements, according to an announcement from the raceway.
Students and their loved ones will sit inside their personal vehicles on the racetrack with the ceremony broadcast via the raceway’s internal FM radio station. When students’ names are called, their photos will be played on the track’s video boards as they drive across the start/finish line.
Seniors and their loved ones are encouraged to decorate their cars, and guests can attend in their vehicles or view a stream of the ceremony on the district’s Facebook page. Information will be available at npsd.org.
