The Society of Irish Women has canceled its 2020 dinner.
“We just can’t put anybody in harm’s way,” Lori Wagner, society president, said by email. “It is the most responsible thing we could do although heartbreaking. We pray for an end to this pandemic and for life to return to some normalcy, wiser and more aware of the safety measures to be taken.
The society previously postponed the dinner, which was to take place on St. Patrick’s Day, March 17, at Radisson at Lackawanna Station hotel, Scranton. The group now will move on to planning its 2021 dinner, with Wagner will continue her role through that event.
Reservations placed for the 2020 dinner will be honored for next year’s, but anyone who cannot attend will receive a refund. For refunds or questions, call Mariann Moran at 570-947-5814 or 570-969-1061. The society advised table captains to contact their groups to let them know about the change.
