The Cabin Bar and Grill recently celebrated two years of serving the Taylor community.
The family-friendly eatery opened in June 2019 and serves Italian-American cuisine but also wings, burgers, seafood and more. The restaurant has daily specials as well that feature off-the-menu items.
Chef’s Table recently chatted with owner Michael Gentile about the variety of offerings at his eatery at 1231 Main Ave.
Q: What is the history of the restaurant?
A: (It was) a local bar going back to the ’50s, now with a full remodel and transformed into a great local family restaurant.
Q: What kind of food do you serve, and what is available for people with special diets?
A: Italian-American. (We have a) full menu with fresh seafood, steaks and salads with our “Soon to Be Famous” dressing, (which) is a must. We have an award-winning wing sauce, hot Caesar garlic. We can cook to order, so special dietary needs can be met.
Q: What are your most-ordered menu items?
A: Seafood dishes such as our Crab Cakes, shrimp and salmon are very fresh and cooked to perfection. We have famous Steak and Cheese Burgers and test anything that uses our “Soon to Be Famous” dressing.
Q: How did your menu come to be?
A: Being in the business for about 40 years and living in the area, you get to know what people want to eat along with a great collaboration with our chef, Christopher Wally. We have something for everyone.
Q: How would you describe the restaurant’s atmosphere?
A: Relaxing, casual dining room, cabin feel and friendly.
Q: What type of seating do you offer?
A: Full-service table seating, patio, full bar and high tops.
Q: What kinds of promotions do you offer?
A: We run a daily specials board that features off-menu items, appetizers and soups.
Q: Do you offer catering, event space, etc.?
A: Yes.
Q: Are you offering delivery, takeout or curbside pickup?
A: Takeout and curbside.
Q: Where do you see the restaurant headed in the future?
A: We are just starting year three at the Cabin and hope to continuously see new customers. Also, we hope to expand our lunch service.
