June 22, 2005:

A crowd of 17,000 fans greeted Dave Matthews Band at its first headlining performance at the Ford Pavilion at Montage Mountain in Scranton.
Taking the stage after opening act Howie Day, the band hit the sellout crowd with “Dreamgirl,” which returned thunderous applause. Throughout the rest of the night, the audience heard such songs as “One Sweet World,” “Don’t Drink the Water,” “Crash,” “Stand Up,” “Louisiana Bayou” and “Too Much” followed by an encore set of “American Baby” and “Two Step.”

Montage Mountain became a familiar place for DMB over the years, playing there six more times: July 5, 2006; June 10, 2008; Sept. 23, 2009; July 14, 2010; May 28, 2012; and May 29, 2013. When the group was just starting out, it performed at Montage Mountain on Aug. 27, 1994, as part of the H.O.R.D.E Festival.

Because of the COVID-19 pandemic, the band has rescheduled its 2020 summer tour to next year.
If you still need your DMB fix, the group has started the DMB Drive-In Concert Series. Each Wednesday evening at dmbdrivein.com, you can watch a taped concert from the band’s archives. Tonight’s concert is from September 11, 1999 at the Continental Airlines Arena in East Rutherford, New Jersey.
