Art for All Seasons is an art competition for area high school students sponsored by The Sunday Times and NEIU. A winner was picked for every month, and the students’ art will be displayed on The Sunday Times’ calendar page on the last Sunday of each month and monthly on Access NEPA.
The Student Artist of the Month for December 2019 is Tristan Burns.
- School: Abington Heights High School
- Grade: 11
- Age: 16
- Art teacher: Abigail Fenton
- Title of artwork: “Cardinal in a Winter Wonderland”
- Medium: Watercolor
- In his own words: “I chose to paint a cardinal in a snowy winter setting because when you see cardinals it is usually in the wintertime. I thought as an artist that the red cardinal would contrast well against the snow. I also thought that I could use watercolor to enhance the texture of the branches, snow and the bird to create an appealing winter piece of work.”
