Whether trying a new look or performing in front of a crowd, putting yourself out there can be scary. Each year, Life&Times spotlights the students who represent their high schools as featured performers.
Confidence is key, and no one has more of it than these gals. I spoke with them about their signature looks and favorite products.
Miss Invader
Abbie O’Brien, West Scranton High School
NYX Pore Filler Primer sets the perfect base for Abbie’s look, which she follows with Lorac foundation. Then, she blends in concealer, Tarte Cosmetics Shape Tape, and creates her eye look with shadows by Morphe and IT Cosmetics Superhero Mascara. Colourpop lipstick tops it all off.
Miss Trojan
Meghan Murray, (North Pocono High School
Meghan never hits the field without Buxom Lash Volumizing Mascara, her eyes done with Morphe x Jaclyn Hill Palette and MAC Cosmetics lipstick in Velvet Teddy. She uses ELF Stardust Glitter for a little sparkle and refreshes throughout the night with Mario Badescu Facial Spray with Aloe, Herbs and Rosewater.
Miss Chief
Annaliese Black, Lakeland Junior-Senior High School
Annaliese’s favorite products include Younique Touch Mineral Skin Perfecting Concealer, Maybelline mascara and, of course, red lipstick. She switches up lipstick brands, but the mainstay in her routine is one by Estée Lauder.
Miss Spartan
Natalie Buchinski, Mid Valley Secondary Center
Natalie’s staples of game-day glamour are Morphe 35R Ready, Set, Gold Artistry Palette and MAC Cosmetics Retro Matte Liquid Lipcolour in Feels So Grande, a deep, true red. She also never hits the field without false lashes and Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara and IT Cosmetics Bye-Bye Under Eye Concealer to ensure she looks her best and brightest.
Miss Buck
Mariana Leo, Dunmore High School
Leo’s look starts with Mario Badescu skin care products. She uses Morphe 35R Ready, Set, Gold Artistry Palette, Anastasia Beverly Hills Norvina Palette or anything by Urban Decay on her eyes. Leo sculpts with ELF Cream Contour Palette and applies Too Faced Love Light Prismatic Highlighter to the high points of her face before she swipes on Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara. She completes the whole look with her perfect nude: NYX Liquid Suede Cream Lipstick in Sandstorm.
Miss Comet

She typically reaches for Too Faced eyeshadow palettes, blushes and bronzers. She swipes her lashes with Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara and applies Jeffree Star Liquid Skin Frost in Frozen Peach on the high points of her face. She opts for a red, sparkly lip — Jeffree Star Velour Liquid Lipstick in Poinsettia.
Miss Knight

The No. 1 thing Julia never hits the field without is blush. She prefers a cream formula and loves Milk Makeup Lip + Cheek in Quickie, a deep, rich berry. She defines her eyebrows with a pencil by ELF and lashes with L’oreal Lash Paradise Mascara.
