Dickson City Fire Department Cornhole Tournament

Brush up on your cornhole skills for the Dickson City Fire Department Cornhole Tournament on Saturday, Oct. 16, at 1 p.m. at the fire department, 1 Eagle Lane.

There will be three divisions — competitive, intermediate and backyard and each division must have at least 12 teams. If not, the competitive and intermediate divisions will be combined.

The top two teams in each division will win cash prizes of up to $300. There also will be a 50/50 and basket raffle, and the beer tent and snack shack will be open.

Registration costs $25 per person and $50 for a team of two. Registration begins at noon on the day of the event.

Lobster Fest

Indulge in a seafood dinner at Lobster Fest on Saturday, Oct. 16, at the Spring Brook Volunteer Fire Company, 20 Route 690, Spring Brook Twp.

Doors open at 5:30 p.m. and dinner starts at 6:30. Each ticket includes 1.25-pound fresh Maine lobster, clams, coleslaw, potatoes, dessert and refreshments.There also will be live music by Common Threads.

Tickets cost $35 and can be purchased from any fire company member or by visiting springbrookfirecompany.com. Tickets must be purchased in advance.

Eighth Annual Lake to Lake 8K Run, Woods Walk and Dog Walk

Run and walk through more than 400 acres of Lacawac Sanctuary at the eighth annual Lake to Lake 8K Run, Woods Walk and Dog Walk on Sunday, Oct. 17, at the Lacawac Sanctuary Field Station & Environmental Education Center, 94 Sanctuary Road, Lake Ariel.

The event begins at 8:30 a.m. Dogs are allowed on the Woods Walk but not on the 8K, as the course is rocky, technical and steep.

Awards for the 8K will be given to the overall male and female finisher and the top finisher in each age group. The Dog Woods Walk is non-competitive.

Registration is required; it costs $30 for the 8K Trail Run and $20 for the Dog Wood Walk. There is no registration fee for dogs.

Sweet Caroline Tour – A Neil Diamond Concert Celebration

Good times will never seem so good at the Sweet Caroline Tour — A Neil Diamond Concert Celebration on Saturday, Oct. 16, at the Theater at North, 1539 N. Main Ave., Scranton.

Doors open at 6:30 p.m., and the performance starts at 7.

Entertainer Jay White, who is endorsed by Diamond and his family as a tribute artist, has been performing since 1989. He will perform Diamond’s famous hits, such as “Cherry, Cherry” and “Coming to America.”

Tickets cost $45 for regular floor seating and $50 for VIP floor seating. They can be purchased online at thetheateratnorth.org or at the box office in advance or starting at 5 p.m. on the day of the show. Wheelchair-accessible seating is available.

Act Out Theater Group presents “13” on Friday, Oct. 15, at 7:30 p.m.; Saturday, Oct. 16, at 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.; and Sunday, Oct. 17, at 2 p.m.

The musical tells the story of Evan Goldman, a young boy who moves from New York City to small-town Indiana after his parents’ divorce. There, he prepares for his impending Bar Mitzvah while navigating the complicated social circles of a new school.

Act Out is located at 150 E. Grove St., Dunmore.
