Adult students will frame an autumn poem with bright leaves during an art class that uses colored pencils to depict fall colors at the Carbon County Environmental Education Center on Saturday from 10 a.m. to noon.

The following week on Saturday, Oct. 19 at 10 a.m., visitors will take a hike to see leaves near their peak colors with Jeff Wartluft, a forestry consultant.
Later in the season, the center will offer an art class in which students will make lamps from wine bottles that they paint on Saturday, Nov. 23 (call for time,) to depict snow on evergreens with acrylic paints on Saturday, Dec. 7 from 10 a.m. to noon and make yule logs, wreaths, gift bags, tree ornaments and jewelry for the holidays on Dec. 11 at 6 p.m.
The center is at 151 E. White Bear Drive, Summit Hill, at the west end of Mauch Chunk Lake Park, outside Jim Thorpe.
