WILKES-BARRE — Today is the last day local retailers can apply to become a vendor at the open-air Holiday Pop-Up Shops on Public Square, which will kick off a grand opening celebration at 11 a.m. on Small Business Saturday on Nov. 28 and continue through Dec 19.
The goal is to provide local retailers another way to reach customers in a safe, open-air setting as part of a COVID-19 recovery strategy, drive holiday shopping traffic, and help elevate the downtown retail tenant and merchandise mix. The new shop structures are portable units that can be grouped together in a variety of ways.
A special focus this year is on retailers that lost a location or need help reaching customers as a result of COVID-19.
