PITTSTON TWP. — The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton International Airport’s air show planned for August is canceled, airport director Carl Beardsley said Thursday.

Beardsley announced the cancellation of the Aug. 22-23 air show during an airport board meeting because of uncertainty created by the coronavirus pandemic.

“The coronavirus precautions are limiting our ability to do what it takes to prepare for a major air show and at the same time re-establish our airport business activities,” Beardsley said. “The decision to cancel this air show makes the most sense to all of us. Hopefully, some time in the future, we can stage another air show in collaboration with our many community partners.”
