Effective immediately, Greyhound suspended its bus service to Scranton, Mayor Paige Gebhardt Cognetti announced today.

In a letter Saturday, the mayor asked Greyhound CEO Dave Leach to pause all routes from New York City, where the coronavirus struck with brutal force.

“The City of Scranton commends Greyhound on its prudent decision and thanks its leadership for working together to protect our community,” Cognetti said in a statement.

A growing chorus complained last week about Greyhound’s limited routes between New York.

Greyhound will suspend service to Scranton until further notice, Cognetti said.
