Nancy Connell Jermyn married John Grennell Matthews on Saturday, Sept. 19, 1942, in the Cyrus D. Jones Memorial Chapel, Elm Park Church, Scranton. Nancy was the granddaughter of the later former Scranton Mayor E.B. Jermyn and the late former U.S. Rep. Charles Connell.
