Preview dates have been announced for “The Devil Wears Prada” musical.
The musical — which is based on Abingtons native Lauren Weisberger’s 2003 novel and was later adapted into a 2006 film starring Meryl Streep and Anne Hathaway — will make its world premiere debut in Chicago in Summer 2020, according to Entertainment Weekly. The show will play at James M. Nederlander Theatre from July 14 through Aug. 16, before its planned Broadway engagement.
The show will feature music by Elton John, lyrics from singer-songwriter Shaina Taub, with Tony-Award winner Anna D. Shapiro directing a book by Paul Rudnick who’s also writing lyrics.
Weisberger spent the first 11 years of her life in Clarks Summit before she moved to Allentown. A Cornell University alumna, she later worked at Vogue magazine under renowned editor-in-chief Anna Wintour.
