The Salvation Army Scranton Corps will distribute hundreds of free watermelons Thursday, just in time for the July Fourth holiday weekend.
All are invited to stop by the corps building at 500 S. Washington Ave. to grab a melon, which are being provided by Atlantic Fresh Trading LLC. There are no income or other eligibility requirements. Distribution will run from 11 a.m. to about 4 p.m., Salvation Army Maj. Bob Schmig said.
While the fruit is free, the local Salvation Army corps will accept donations.
