Randy White and race organizers of the Damon S. Young Memorial Race have decided, with heavy hearts, to cancel this year’s race.
White encourages runners, however, to continue to honor Damon on June 20 by walking a 5k or running a 5k/10k, if they would like, reminding athletes that it can occur anywhere.
Organizers would enjoy runners posting their times and pictures on Facebook after you have a nice sweaty smile.
Despite the cancellation of the race, Damon’s scholarship will still be awarded to deserving seniors at Tunkhannock Area School District this year. With that in mind, if you would like to make a donation to the scholarship you may do so by mailing it to: Damon S. Young Memorial Scholarship, c/o Randy White, 9 Jayne Road, Tunkhannock, PA 18657.
White added, “Along with a thank you, we will send you a custom-designed DSY magnet. There are even a few pint glasses available for local pick up if you choose to drop off your donation at my house.”
“We can’t wait to see you all in 2021, maybe even with some cool race news.”
