The Viewmont Mall in Scranton and Dickson City will reopen Friday, June 26, PREIT has announced.
The mall will cut back on its hours and the number of people allowed inside according state requirements, opening Mondays through Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Sundays from noon to 6 p.m., according to the real estate investment trust. Shoppers must wear face masks or coverings to comply with state regulations and are asked to continuing social distancing. PREIT has added floor decals to show customers how they should stay apart in the food court and other areas.
Stores opening June 26 include Aeropostale, Angelo’s Pizza-teria, Applebee’s, Forever 21, HomeGoods, Dairy Queen, La Tonalteca, Lids, Sun Gourmet and Zumiez.
Lenscrafters and Sunglass Hut will reopen Monday, June 29; Rue21 will reopen Wednesday, July 1; and Buffalo Wild Wings will reopen July 10.
Books a Million and Firestone already have reopened.
Dick’s Sporting Goods and Field & Stream are open Mondays through Saturdays, 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., and Sundays, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., with contactless curbside pickup for online orders only.
JCPenney is open with reduced hours of Mondays through Saturdays, 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., and Sundays, noon to 6 p.m. The store will open an hour earlier on Wednesdays and Fridays so at-risk customers can shop.
Macy’s is open daily from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. and has curbside pickup available.
When they return, visitors will notice several changes designed to keep the mall clean, such as removing common areas and their furniture, cutting back food court seating, and closing play areas. They also can take advantage of sanitizing locations set up throughout the mall.
PREIT cleaned and disinfected all of the facilities while the mall was temporarily closed during the coronavirus pandemic, and staff will continue to clean and sanitize areas, especially high-touch surfaces. Housekeeping, maintenance and security staff will wear masks and gloves while working.
For people who prefer not to enter the mall, PREIT has established specific parking spots for the Mall2Go contactless pickup program.
PREIT also has set up programs to help local residents: a job portal for gathering contact information for people interested in jobs at the mall, and a Shop Local website supporting local and regional tenants’ e-commerce platforms.
