Enjoy a fun night and support a good cause without leaving your home.

Lackawanna Pro Bono’s 12th annual Fundraising Gala will be held virtually on Thursday, Nov. 5, from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. Tickets cost $100, and proceeds will support the organization’s mission to provide free legal representation to residents facing serious civil legal problems who do not have the means to hire a lawyer.

“The gala is always a highly anticipated event,” said Carla Zero, development and outreach coordinator for Lackawanna Pro Bono. “It’s a special evening where friends and colleagues gather in celebration of Lackawanna Pro Bono’s mission to provide equal access to justice and to celebrate the contribution of our honorees.”

This year’s honorees are Kathleen Chamberlin Graff, attorney Paul R. Mazzoni, the late Senior U.S. District Judge James M. Munley and the family of the late attorney Robert W. Munley. Guests will be greeted by attorney Jerry Musheno, president of Lackawanna Pro Bono’s board of directors, and attorney Joe Price. Price will then host the event alongside attorneys Dan Munley and Silvia Hahn.

The gala helps Lackawanna Pro Bono continue providing free legal help to people in marginalized communities while honoring those who give back to the community. Zero said the organization typically holds two major events each year, with the fundraising gala being its largest. This event’s donations and contributions are a crucial part of funding for Lackawanna Pro Bono.

“(The) number of legal needs are, and will continue to be, tied to this pandemic, and more people will be unable to afford a lawyer than ever,” Zero said. “Foreclosures, evictions, challenges to unemployment compensation claims, collection efforts taken by creditors and family disputes fueled by the pandemic’s tensions are the legal problems expected to mushroom.”

Attendees can pick up curbside boxed hors d’oeuvres and desserts from Constantino’s Catering and Events, Clarks Summit, to enjoy during the event, a perk included in the cost. Also, each ticketholder will be entered for a chance to win a one-week stay at a vacation home in Lake Harmony.

Guests can expect to receive a digital copy of the program book prior to the event. The deadline for sponsorships and tickets is Thursday, Oct. 29.
