When other venues and retail centers slowly reopen Friday, shopping malls in Lackawanna County will remain dark.

Malls can’t open until the green phase, according to Gov. Tom Wolf’s plan to reopen the state’s economy as COVID-19 wanes.

It’s unclear when the green phase will come, but when it does, shopping malls, including the Marketplace at Steamtown in Scranton and the Viewmont Mall in Dickson City and Scranton, must cap occupancy at 50%.

The outdoor Shoppes at Montage center offers curbside access to its stores and may start reopening for in-person shopping Friday.
