Pottsville’s Winter Wonderland at Yuengling Park has been rescheduled for Sunday, Dec. 22.

The event was originally scheduled for Sunday, Dec. 1, but inclement weather forced officials to postpone it to a further date. The rescheduled event will be held from 4 to 7:30 p.m. in the park, Mahantongo and South 11th streets. The event will also be held at the same time Sunday, Dec. 8.

It will include pictures with Santa, live reindeer, refreshments, kids crafts, entertainment and King Cole Winery. Carriage rides will also be offered. Anyone who booked a carriage ride for last Sunday can call city hall at 570-628-4417.

This is the second year for Winter Wonderland, a partnership between the city and Lasting Legacy of Pottsville, a nonprofit that supports park projects. A 10-member committee is organizing the event.

Carriage rides are $5 per person, with 14 seats available per ride. Reservations and advance payment is required and can be done by calling 570-628-4417 or stopping by City Administrator Thomas A. Palamar’s office.

The rides will leave the park and go west on Mahantongo Street to 16th Street and back to the park. The first ride leaves the park both nights at 4 p.m., with the last leaving at 7 p.m. Residents are asked to show up five minutes prior to their scheduled time.

The reindeer come from Spruce Run Farm, Bloomsburg. They will sit behind an enclosure, where residents can take photos but can’t touch the animals.

In addition to Winter Wonderland, Yuengling Park will also be the site of “Paws with Claus” from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 4, sponsored by CACL Bark Park Committee. During the event, Santa will pose for photos with dogs. A holiday costume contest will also take place. Vendors and refreshments will be available.
