A new Sheetz store will open in the area this week while another will soon close for renovations.
The new Sheetz store at 114 S. Main St., Taylor, will open Thursday, according to a news release from the company.
In honor of the grand opening, Sheetz will donate $2,500 to the Harry & Jeanette Weinberg Northeast Regional Food Bank and $2,500 to the Special Olympics of Pennsylvania.
The store at 610 Scranton-Carbondale Highway, Dickson City, will close May 17 and is expected to reopen by Aug. 12, said store manager Helen Spudis.
Sheetz also has stores in Clarks Summit, Dunmore and Scranton in Lackawanna County, and Hazle Twp., Plains Twp., Shavertown, Sugarloaf Twp. and Wilkes-Barre in Luzerne County.
Altoona-based Sheetz operates 621 store locations across Pennsylvania, North Carolina, Virginia, West Virginia, Ohio and Maryland, with all locations open 24/7, 365 days a year. It has more than 20,000 employees.
