Luminaries will light up a half-mile of the Lackawanna River Heritage Trail in Scranton from the Seventh Avenue Trailhead to the Broadway Trailhead on Tuesday to mark the one-year anniversary of the first life lost to COVID-19 in Lackawanna County and honor hundreds of residents who died from the virus.

The Lackawanna Heritage Valley, in partnership with NEPA Strong, presents the free, self-guided Luminary Memorial Walk from 7 to 9 p.m. Each luminary will represent one of the more than 400 lives lost since March 23, 2020.

Those in attendance should wear a face mask and practice social distancing. In the event of inclement weather, the LHV will post rain date information on its social media. For more information, call 570-963-6730.
