This week, staff writer Laura Rysz talks with Joseph Carra about the upcoming Villa Capri Cruisers Charity Car Show for the Butterfly accessible playground at Nay Aug Park.
Residence: Dunmore
Title: Villa Capri Cruisers Car Club president
Q: What inspired this event?
A: We started this fundraiser in 2014. Over the years, the number of cars has increased. We’ve done this fundraiser for the Children’s Advocacy Center of Northeastern Pennsylvania, Marley’s Mission and Allied Services. Since the club is a 501(c)3 charity specifically for children, we operate this car show to benefit local children’s charities. We have many corporate and business sponsors as well. We also operate a Father’s Day car show, and our big show at Home Depot. Additionally, we do cruises throughout the summer.
Q: What kind of cars are often on display?
A: There is always a large variety of cars attending our show. From antiques to modern muscle, even a full-size pedal car. We welcome all car enthusiasts.
Q: What is included with admission?
A: (There is) no admission (fee) for spectators. There’s a suggested $5 donation per show car. Food and beverages will be available (with) entertainment provided by DJ Donna Diva.
Q: How will proceeds be used?
A: We are raising funds for the new Butterfly accessible playground coming to Nay Aug Park.
