Red, white and blue were the colors of the day during Sunday’s parade for Independence Day in Port Carbon.

The day’s festivities were hosted by the Port Carbon Citizens Committee. The annual parade kicked off at 10 a.m. at the former Alpha Mills factory on Coal Street and ended at John L. Miller Memorial Playground.

In addition to homemade floats, there was fire equipment from Port Carbon and local municipalities, and music was provided by Pottsville’s Third Brigade Band. The Yuengling horse-drawn wagon also participated.
