Local historian Tony Brooks hosted a walking tour of Hollenback Cemetery in Wilkes-Barre on Saturday, May 22, 2021.
Brooks, a Wilkes-Barre city councilman, is the director of the Wilkes-Barre Preservation Society and a board member of the Hollenback Cemetery Association.
The tour explored the lives of several local families who are namesakes of many Wilkes-Barre streets and parks, including the Hollenback, Butler, Ross, Conyngham and Kirby families. Proceeds from the tour benefit the restoration of damaged and weatherworn gravesites.
