The annual Met Gala (or Met Ball) is a fundraiser for Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute in New York City that takes place each May.
It’s also the one red carpet event of the year where anything goes as far as fashion and beauty.
Monday night’s theme was “Camp: Notes on Fashion” which is a nod to Susan Sontag’s 1964 essay, “Notes on ‘Camp,’” where she surmises “not everything can be camp, but many things, ideas and objects can be considered ‘campy.’”
It’s not about sleeping in a tent or having bunkmates but “love of the unnatural, of artifice and exaggeration.”
