Some of the major attractions at the the massive American Dream Mall in East Rutherford, New Jersey, opened in 2019. The mall had to close temporarily earlier this year due to COVID-19 but reopened earlier this month, with many new tenants on hand.

American Dream is a giant shopping center and entertainment complex. Officials at this new complex are calling it a lifestyle and retail destination.

The complex is more than a decade in the making and is located next to the Meadowlands Sports Complex in East Rutherford, New Jersey — an easy day trip from central Pennsylvania. It will be 55% entertainment and 45% retail when completed.

The 3-million-square foot complex will be home to hundreds of retail, dining and entertainment establishments.

Eventually, it is expected to have more than 450 shops, services and amenities. Shopping center officials have said it will feature a distinct shopping environment dedicated to iconic luxury brands and younger, fashion-forward retail.

It’s not clear how many tenants have pulled out of the mall due to COVID-19, but at least 17 tenants that were previously announced by the mall were not on the latest list. However, the shopping center has announced its first 130 tenants.

Officials claim that American Dream is home to the first indoor snow park in North America, the largest indoor water park in North America, the largest indoor theme park in the Western Hemisphere and an NHL-sized ice-skating rink.

There are two 18-hole miniature golf courses and a Sea Life Aquarium and a Legoland Discovery Center are expected to open in the spring.

The developer, Triple Five Group also owns the monstrous Mall of America in Minnesota.
