This week, staff writer Laura Rysz talks with Heidi Clauss about the upcoming Lake Ariel Volunteer Fire Company drive-through breakfast, which raises money for local fire companies.

Residence: Lake Ariel

Title: Lake Ariel Fire Company Auxiliary volunteer

Q: How many years has this fundraiser been a tradition?

A: The Lake Ariel Volunteer Fire Company has had Sunday breakfasts for several years in several different forms, and because of the COVID-19 shutdown, we are now serving our breakfasts in a drive-through format.

Q: What is included with admission?

A: Breakfasts come with two pancakes, scrambled eggs, two slices of bacon, two sausage patties, home fries, syrup and butter for $10.

Q: How will proceeds be used?

A: Since we are a 100% volunteer organization, our fundraisers are vital to our survival. All proceeds will go into our general fund to purchase day-to-day items such as fuel, equipment, maintenance and upkeep of three fire stations. The stations are located in the Hideout, South Canaan, and our main station is in Lake Ariel.

Q: How can you donate if you cannot attend?

A: They can send a check through the mail to Lake Ariel Volunteer Fire Company, P.O. Box 31, Lake Ariel, PA 18436.

Q: Why is community support so important to your cause?

A: The Lake Ariel Volunteer Fire Company is here to serve and protect our community, and without the generous support from the community, we could not survive.
