There is no way that the schedule-makers who have to come up with the matrix for a two-year cycle a year in advance could have foreseen the way the 2019 season is playing out, but they sure did things right.

This week the Wyoming Valley Conference and the Lackawanna League will conclude their regular seasons and the top two teams in both will go head-to-head in the finales.

First, Delaware Valley (10-0) and the No. 1 team in The Times-Tribune Boys Volleyball Top 5, will play at Holy Redeemer (10-0) the perennial champion of the WVC and winners of 77 straight in the regular season. That match is Wednesday at Holy Redeemer.

Then, Blue Ridge (8-1) will take on Forest City (9-1) on Thursday in a rematch of an earlier showdown which Blue Ridge won 3-0.
