Teams in volleyball are into the semifinal round of the District 1-2-11 Class 2A subregional tournament.
Abington Heights and Bethlehem Catholic, which represents District 11, each pulled off upsets in the quarterfinals at the Blue Ridge venue last week. Holy Redeemer and Tunkhannock advanced in the other semifinal. Because Holy Redeemer is the No. 1 seed, again, the Royals will host the semifinal doubleheader Tuesday starting at 5 p.m.
Abington Heights 3, Blue Ridge 2
James McGrail had 20 kills and nine digs as Abington Heights rallied for a 3-2 win over Blue Ridge in a District 1-2-11 Class 2A subregional boys volleyball quarterfinal match Wednesday.
Matt Pacyna had 28 assists and five kills for the Comets, who dropped the first two sets but then won three straight to advance to Tuesday’s semifinals. Nate Steinback added 22 assists and eight kills for the winners.
Cameron Franks had 12 kills and 10 points for Blue Ridge, Calvin Scheideler had seven kills, Evin Davies had five blocks and five kills and Parker Dissinger had nine points.

Delaware Valley lost a tight match against Easton in the quarterfinals of the District 2-11 Class 3A subregional playofs.
That did not end Delaware Valley’s season, however. The Warriors will play Hazleton Area on Monday in the District 2 Class 3A Championship Game.
