OK, the swim regular season is getting close to the final lap.

There are only a few meets remaining in a schedule that somehow cut through, condensed and reached — if it makes it — conclusion.

Kudos to those — Scranton AD Ted Anderson and Scranton Prep AD Scott Gower — who helped formulate a workable slate of dual meets with the major hurdle of schools not having access to a pool for dual meets. Listen, virtual meets are not ideal, but would anyone rather the alternative of no meets at all? I think, every once in a while it is important to remember this season is not like anything we have seen before, and these athletic directors did the best they could.

Before we look back at another fantastic week in the Lackawanna League, here is what is tentatively on deck.

TODAY

Scranton Prep at Abington Heights — PPD 

• If the Scranton Prep girls team wins it will clinch the Lackawanna League title. The Classics have won 42 straight dual meets.

 

• If the Abington Heights boys team wins it will remain one meet behind leader Delaware Valley in the standings.

 

TUESDAY

West Scranton at Delaware Valley

• If the Delaware Valley boys team wins it will clinch the Lackawanna League championship for a sixth straight championship. The Warriors are 111-2 since the league formed in 2007.

 

• The meet also features two defending D2 Diving Champions as they tune up for Saturday’s championship meet. West Scranton junior Victoria Watkins (2A) and Delaware Valley senior Jacob Wenzel (3A) won gold last season.
