In the aftermath of the Super Bowl, we now can set our focus on the high school swim season, because we know you all are ready for the home stretch.
It is hard to believe, however, there are only 26 days until the District 2 Championships. And, that event, which had been in peril, set a tentative site and dates with of course weather and COVID-19 permitting.
Delaware Valley High School is the host for this season. The Wyoming Valley CYC could not accommodate the event this season because of the COVID-19 restrictions, so the District 2 Committee landed Delaware Valley and its huge campus and venue.
The District 2 Diving Championships will remain at the Wyoming Valley CYC.
DATES
FEBRUARY 27: District 2 Diving Championships at Wyoming Valley CYC.
MARCH 6-7: District 2 Class 3A and Class 2A Championships at Delaware Valley High School.
NOTE: If weather impacts the dates, the meet will be conducted virtually.
District 2 Swimming Championships relocate to Delaware Valley High School
The District 2 Swimming Championships will have a new home this season.
During a teleconference Thursday afternoon, the District 2 Committee approved a motion to move the championships to Delaware Valley High School in Milford to help conduct the event in person while adhering to
COVID-19 guidelines for indoor activities.
Normally, the meets are held at the Wyoming Valley Catholic Youth Center in Wilkes-Barre, a public facility that withdrew from hosting this year’s event because of the pandemic. The committee also considered an offer from Keystone Aquatics Center to host the event at its facility in Carlisle.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS
WINNING TIMES
Again, we are tracking the winning times in races from dual meets held this week. There has been some confusion. This is not a ranking of best times in the league. That would be a monumental task each week and requires all recorded times from each race, which is extremely time consuming.
These are only times from athletes who win races or swim exhibition because their teams don’t compete in the dual meet.
