Scranton Prep’s quest for a District 2 Class 2A championship ended with a loss to rival Crestwood last week. However, the Cavaliers secured a spot in the PIAA playoffs for the first time in the program’s history.

Tuesday afternoon — weather permitting — the Cavaliers will open the state tournament against defending state champion Bishop Shanahan at Harriton High School in Rosemont, Pa.

It has been a steady climb for the Cavaliers program to a state qualifying program.
