Tuesday marked the second day of the heat acclimatization period for fall sports athletes and our tour AROUND THE CAMPS.

We put some miles on the old KIA Rio, so of course the check engine light came on just as I pulled into the driveway. Let’s keep our fingers crossed and Wednesday brings with it another long trip through Wyoming County through Susquehanna County and back.

North Pocono and Delaware Valley were the destinations for Day 2.

2019 NORTH POCONO TROJANS

Last season, Robert VanBrunt proved to be a valuable contributor on both sides of the ball as the Trojans reached the District 2 Class 4A playoffs.

In 2019, he will counted on as one of only a few starters coming back as North Pocono tries to continue its run of success.

2019 DELAWARE VALLEY WARRIORS

Every year when discussing preseason favorites, Delaware Valley is one that comes up in the discussion.

Two seasons ago, the Warriors had one of the best seasons in school history with a 12-1 finish that included a District 2 Class 6A championship. It also featured an opening week win over Fort Pierce, Florida, a state-ranked team.

Hunter Klein was a backup on that team, and used the experience in playing during a JV contest in Florida and as an understudy to All-Region talent, to help contribute to last season’s second straight District 2 Class 6A title.

With 10 starters back on offense and five returning on defense, and Klein leading the way, the Warriors are poised to be back among the top teams in The Times-Tribune Top 10 Poll when it is revealed on August 18 in The Sunday Times.
