Helen Reddy, singer and actress, best known for her hit song “I Am Woman” died yesterday, Sept. 29, at the age of 78.
During her years performing, Reddy stopped by our area three times.
Here first time performing in Northeast Pennsylvania was in July 1973 at the star-studded Pocono State Fair at Pocono Raceway. She performed along with country singer Mac Davis.
Davis also died yesterday, Sept. 29, at the age of 78.
She would return in April 1987 for a week-long booking at the Genetti Dinner Playhouse in Hazleton.

Here finally performance in our area came on Valentine’s Day 1990 at the F.M. Kirby Center in Wilkes-Barre. She performed along with the Velvet Fog – Mel Torme.
