Today, June 27, is National Pineapple Day. The sweet, tropical fruit is a go-to summer treat but it also packs serious skin care benefits. Pineapple contains bromelain, a mix of enzymes aka natural alpha hydroxy acids (AHAs), which gently exfoliate the skin. It has anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial benefits and is a natural form of vitamin C.
To celebrate the sunny fruit, here’s some of my favorite skin care products made with pineapple.
Glow Recipe Pineapple-C Bright Serum
This light serum was made to help you achieve the Korean-beauty goal “glass skin,” or poreless, luminous, translucent skin. It contains 22% pineapple juice along with two additional forms of vitamin C, pure ascorbic acid and stable 3-O-ethyl ascorbic acid, to clear out pores and exfoliate dead skin, fade dark spots and hyperpigmentation. Its adorable pineapple-shaped packaging and tropical scent will be a super fun addition to your skin care routine.
Herbivore Botanicals Brighten Pineapple + Gemstone Mask
Pineapple’s natural scent will immediately transport you to an island. What can be more of a boujee vacation spa experience than a face mask made with pineapple and gemstones? Pineapple and papaya enzymes, Brazilian white tourmaline gemstone and rice powder in this mask leave skin brighter, clearer and softer. The gemstones are micronized and super finely milled so they won’t cause any tearing or irritation — just smooth radiance.
Alba Botanica Natural Hawaiian Facial Cleanser – Pineapple Enzyme
If you haven’t noticed, pineapple and papaya are the dream team for glowing skin. This light cleanser contains both: pineapple enzymes refine pores and papaya enzymes brighten, which also wash away impurities without stripping your skin of its natural oils. Aloe, hibiscus and passion flower work to counteract any irritation and aid in hydration.
Unique Beauty Blends Island Bae Pineapple Face and Body Scrub
Give your body some love. This handmade tropical scrub gives you the benefits of pineapple’s chemical exfoliation plus manual exfoliation from the sugar crystals. The skin on our body is tougher than our face and elbows, knees and heels need a little extra work to feel soft and smooth. Natural vitamin C boosts collagen production and skin elasticity. Plus this smells like a vacation in a jar.
Pacifica Pineapple Flower Oil-Free Matte Mist
I’m such a sucker for a face mist. This 100% vegan formula blends hydration powerhouse hyaluronic acid with resurfacing pineapple, antioxidant-rich raspberry and fatty acid-dense and anti-inflammatory black currant extract. It will help to control oil production and balance it out, as well as refresh and plump skin and even improve tone and texture over time.
