The inaugural NePizzA Festival looks to celebrate all things cheesy, delicious and local.

Montage Mountain will host the pizza extravaganza Saturday, Oct. 12, from noon to 6 p.m. both indoors and outdoors and rain or shine.

Whether you’re looking to support your favorite local pizza place or try somewhere new, NePizzA Festival has 15 vendors from across Northeast Pennsylvania whose cuts guests can sample. Participants include Annarella Pizza & Pasta, Arcaro’s The Next Generation, Budd’s Pizza Cafe, Buona Pizza, Ciccone’s Pizza, Franco’s, Giuseppe’s Pizzeria of Pittston, Kava Korner of Trucksville, King’s Pizza, Slocum Hollow Bar & Restaurant, Revello’s, Colarusso’s Minooka, Johnny’s Pizza, Uncle Joe’s Pizza and Subs and G&M’s Snack Bar.

And what’s a festival without a little friendly competition? The local pizza places will duke it out for titles in best plain pizza, best gourmet pizza and best overall pizza in NEPA categories.

Montage Mountain’s director of marketing, Jeff Slivinski, said the event was inspired by the heritage and attraction to NEPA’s world-famous pizza.

“Community members should come support local pizza places and give them a chance to showcase their pizza or even become a new customer,” Slivinksi said.

Ticket prices for this event vary. Those looking to sample pizza can buy general admission and food tickets for $29 in advance or $40 at the door. This ticket includes 10 pizza sampling tickets guests can turn in at any participating pizza vendor in exchange for a sample of a gourmet or regular pizza.

Tickets for festival admission only cost $19 in advance and $25 at the door. Those who buy a festival-only ticket can still purchase pizza and additional offerings from vendors.

For ages 7 to 17, tickets for general admission and food cost $10. Admission is free for children 6 and younger.
