  • Ronald McDonald House of Scranton Gourmet Gala, postponed, originally scheduled for Sunday, March 22, at Mohegan Sun Pocono, 1280 Route 315, Wilkes-Barre. A new date has been tentatively set for Sunday, June 14, 5 to 8 p.m. no new date
  • Goodwill Industries of NEPA Fashion Show, postponed, Thursday, March 26, 5:30 p.m. at Theater at North, 1539 N. Main Ave., Scranton, no new date.
  • The Scranton Half Marathon, accompanying 5K, youth events and expo, postponed; originally scheduled for March 27, 28 and 29; no new date; the organization is formulating options for event transfers and refunds.
  • WVIA Pennsylvania Polka event, postponed from March 28; no new date is set. Those who already signed up will receive first priority when it is rescheduled. Visit https://www.wvia.org for information.
  • 11th Annual Electric City Tattoo Convention, originally set the week of April 3, at Hilton Scranton and Conference Center, has been postponed to June 19, June 20 and June 21.
  • Greater Scranton Chamber of Commerce annual dinner, March 31, rescheduled to June 17
  • Annual Helen Keller Day Fashion Show and Luncheon, April 5, is postponed until June 28. Reservations will now close June 19.
  • Greater Scranton Chamber of Commerce, Empower: Women’s Leadership Conference, April 17, rescheduled for June 10
  • Wyoming Valley Children’s Association, all external events postponed, including the Blue and Gold Gala, Walk-A-Thon and Annual Meeting events.   • Clarks Summit University, extended spring break to March 23, cancelled events for week of March 15
  • Johnson College, extended spring break to March 23, cancelled events for week of March 15
  • Keystone University, extended spring break to March 23, cancelled events for week of March 15
  • King’s College, In-person classes suspended until April 14, after Easter break. Courses continue online. Internships, clinicals or student-teaching assignments will continue as scheduled.
  • Marywood University, extended spring break to March 23, cancelled events for week of March 15
  • Misericordia University, In-person classes suspended until April 14, after Easter break. Courses continue online.
  • Penn State Scranton and Penn State Wilkes-Barre, along with other Penn State campuses, classes online March 16-April 3
  • University of Scranton, extended spring break to March 30, classes go online March 30-April 9
  • Wilkes University, In-person classes suspended until April 3 and set to resume April 6. Courses continue online. All university-sponsored events cancelled through April 5 and athletic events cancelled through March 30.

 

School changes

  • All Star Wrestling Classic, on hold, originall scheduled for Saturday, March 14, at Hanover Area High School. Postponed date will be announced when decided. Tunkhannock Area, Lackawanna Trail, and Elk Lake were scheduled to have wrestlers representing their schools in the event.
  • Lackawanna Trail: On Friday, March 13th, the junior-senior high school students will be dismissed at 11:15. Friday is already scheduled as an Act 80 Day in the elementary center.
    Friday’s early dismissal is for precautionary reasons only. (The district) will use this time to conduct additional cleaning and disinfecting of the schools, as well as conduct staff development with faculty.
  • Lackawanna Trail Elementary Center youth basketball, canceled, originally scheduled for Friday, March 13, and Saturday, March 14; Kid Writing, postponed.
  • Scranton Preparatory School moves to online classes March 18; expects to reopen after Easter break on April 14
  • PIAA winter sports championships — boys and girls basketball quarterfinals, semifinals and finals, and Class 2A swimming and diving championships, postponed. No new date.
  • Old Forge Speed & Agility Camp for Elementary Students (4-6 grades), originally scheduled for this Sunday, March 22 and 29, temporarily postponed until later in the Spring.
  • Old Forge School District National Honor Society and Student Council/Senior Class Dodgeball Tournament, originally scheduled for Saturday, March 21, temporarily postponed until later in the Spring
  • Wyoming Seminary: In-person classes suspended. All school events and athletics cancelled through March 22.
