Aficionados of rare, antique and classic boats will gather at Harveys Lake on Saturday, Aug. 10, to celebrate the beauty and heritage of vintage watercraft as the 29th annual Antique and Classic Boat Show presented by the Harveys Lake Chapter Antique and Classic Boat Society gets underway at Grotto Marina at Harveys Lake.

The show will be held Saturday, Aug. 10, from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Harveys Lake. Club President and Boat Show Chairman Josh Bryant, on behalf of the organization, invites the public to spend a few hours enjoying Grotto Pizza and strolling the marina to see the collection of antique and classic boats that will be on display for the event.

Billed by organizers as a one-of-a-kind boat show, the biggest boat show of its kind in the local area, the event brings boat enthusiasts and the general public together for a day to enjoy antique and classic watercraft.

“People from everywhere come out in droves to Grotto Pizza,” Bryant said in a prepared release. “They enjoy their pizza, then stroll over to the marina to see all of our wonderful historic boats. We have a big lineup of boats signed up so this may very well be our biggest turnout in attendance by spectators ever.”

Among several awards given to participants are the Peoples Choice Award, chosen by all visitors coming to the show, and Ladies Choice Award, chosen by all the ladies. Ballots and pencils for voting can be picked up at the registration tent adjacent to the docks.

The live band Strawberry Jam Duo from the Back Mountain perform at the Grotto Marina with music from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. The boat show is free to spectators.

Grotto Marina is located off Highway 415 at the entrance to Harveys Lake. Ample off-street parking is available at Grotto Pizza.
