Calzone restaurant chain D.P. Dough has opened where Dino’s Pizza Express closed at 41 S. Main St. in Midtown Village in downtown Wilkes-Barre.
D.P. Dough allows people to build their own calzones and its menu features several types of calzones and other items such as wings, boneless wings called “D.P. Dunkers,” and other items like “D.P. Tots.”
According to its website, Penny Haley and her son Danny opened the first D.P. Dough in 1987 in Amherst, Massachusetts, and there are now more than 50 D.P. Dough locations in college towns.
It replaced the former Dino’s Pizza Express that closed in June last year after the COVID-19 pandemic took a toll on business.
