The Traver’s Auctions annual New Year’s Day Auction has been replaced this year by a multi-day “Holiday Extravaganza Online Only Auction.”

The decision to hold an online auction in lieu of the 27th annual New Year’s Day Auction was made “out of concern for the community,” according to the company.

The move comes during a period when Luzerne County and Pennsylvania have seen record-breaking numbers of COVID-19 cases.

The online auction will take place from 5 p.m. Monday, Dec. 28, to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 5.

People will be able to bid at their convenience from their computer or cellphone on more than 250 lots, according to the company.

Items up for auction include antiques, artwork, furniture, housewares and collectibles.

Previews are available by appointment only by calling 570-954-1735. Masks are required to enter the premises. Items will be available for curbside pickup by appointment at the auction facility at 56 Dorchester Dr., Dallas.

Shipping will also be available for smaller items, where practical.
